automate sim with different cells/files for different temperature

Hi,

my simulation involves inductor which has different .sp files for different temperatures, I'm wondering if there's a way in adexl to associate different .sp files for temperature sweep  sim? Or on a more general level, is it possible to associate different cells for different temperatures for a temperature sweep sim?

thanks,

Kev

    Hi Kev,

If you can use IC617 ISR6, the nport component has a checkbox on it to allow you to say that the name on the fileName field is a variable rather than the filename itself. You can then add a design variable and global variable with that variable name in ADE XL.

Specify the value of the variable as a comma-separated list of the file part of the file name (omit the directory), with each filename in double quotes (e.g. "file1.sp","file2.sp") etc - ensuring that you have as many files in the list as there are temperature values in the temperature sweep. Then select both the temperature variable and the filename variable and select right mouse->group as parametric set. This will mean that the two variables track each other rather than being simulated as orthogonal combinations. In the test editor, set up Setup->Simulation Files and specify the include path to (at least) include the directory containing the s-parameter files.

If you can't use IC617 ISR6, there's a solution on support.cadence.com which describes how to modify the nport (by taking a local copy) to allow the filename to be a variable. You'd still need to do the other steps and make it a parametric set so that the variables track.

    Regards,

    Andrew.

See https://community.cadence.com/cadence_technology_forums/f/33/p/33147/1341298#1341298 for another possible way of using the nport with a variable if you can't use IC617 ISR6.
