Controlling Window Placement in AWR Tool

You can choose the placement of various windows by right-clicking the window header to access the context menu or by clicking the Window Position (down arrow) button on the header to display a menu with the following options:

  • Floatingwindow: It is displayed within the workspace as a separate, moveable window.

To close a floating window, click the "X" button in the upper-right corner of the window.

  • Dockablewindow: It is displayed or is auto-hidden on a designated side of the main window.

To dock a window, drag the open window to the desired edge (top, bottom, left, or right) of the main window. During the move, a docking target is displayed to help you position the window. Drag the window until the cursor is over the docking target arrow of the desired orientation (top, bottom, left, or right). Wait for the main window to turn blue in the target area and then release the mouse button to dock the window.

The following figure shows a docking target with its right side (arrow) selected to specify that the Browser is placed on the right in the main window:

You can also choose Dock to > Left/Right/Top/Bottom from the context menu to specify the docked window location.

  • Tabbed Document: It is displayed as a tab on the top of the main window. You can drag tabs to reorder them.

To change a dockable window to a tabbed document, drag the window onto the center of the docking target arrow that displays when you begin to move the window OR choose Tabbed Document from the window's context menu. The              Structure window in the figure shown above is a tabbed document.

  • Auto-Hidewindow: Auto-hiding windows collapse into tabs shortly after losing focus and then display again in full view when you move the cursor over the tab.

To auto-hide a docked window, you can choose Auto-Hide from the window's context menu or click the Auto Hide (push pin) button in the upper-right corner of the window. To quit the auto-hide mode, choose this option again to toggle it off.

Hide: To remove a window from the workspace, choose Hide from the window's context menu.

To restore a closed or hidden window, go to the View ribbon in the Controls group and click Control Visibility. Then, choose the window name from the drop-down menu.
