How to replicate AntPat_EF option in the Output File menu with an EM structure and selecting an excitation subcircuit for the EM structure

Hi,

In the past months I've been working with AWR in order to simulate the electromagnetic behaviour of my antenna design using Analyst simulator.

As part of the project, I have two separated parts: the EM structure of the antenna (Fig.1) and a non-linear decorrelating net in order to separate signals from different frequency bands (Fig.2).

  • Fig. 1: The EM structure

  • Fig. 2: Both the EM structure andthe non-linear circuit. This is the simulation's objective.

I've been able to extract, simulate and visualize the 3D Antenna pattern for both EM structure alone (with ANTENNA_3D annotations) and the EM structure with the excitation from a subcircuit  as in Fig. 2 (with ANTENNA_CKT_3D annotations).

However, I need to export the radiation patterns to a file in order to apply data analisys.

I can export the data I need from an EM structure using the AntPat_EF option in the Output File menu because it sweeps both Thetha and Phi values for a given frequency.

This option is exactly what I need, but I can't find the same option with circuit excitation.

Is there a way to replicate AntPat_EF option in the Output File menu with an EM structure and selecting an excitation subcircuit?

Thank you in advance,

Salud!

    Hi Pablo,

It looks like at the current time, there is not an option to write an output file for an in-Situ version of this measurement (specifying the EM Structure + an Excitation Schematic).

I'm told that this is an existing enhancement request to development.  I don't have any specifics about its priority or schedule.

    Hello again Curtis.

I tried many things but I can't really find the right combination in order to replace (or recreate) this feat.

Could you please suggest any idea to write an output file for the EM Structure + an Excitation Schematic?

Maybe combine 2 files exporting some measurements or maybe exciting the EM port with the exact power measured on the Schematic.

    Thank you in advance,

    Pablo

    Hi Pablo,

At this time, I don't see a way to do it in a straightforward manner.

If you are able to submit this as a support case and attach your project, one of our support AEs may be able to try to experiment with it.  That would probably be our best chance to determine whether a workaround is possible for this issue.
