Why does my AXIEM simulation take so long, and how do experienced users speed it up?

I'm working on a PCB passive structure in AXIEM and the simulation time seems to increase dramatically every time I add more geometry.

Sometimes a small change doubles or triples the solve time.

How do experienced AWR users decide when an AXIEM simulation is "too detailed"? What are the most effective ways to reduce simulation time without sacrificing accuracy?
