cadence ic613 with assura32: warning about environment variable

Hello all,

I installed cadence ic613 and assura32 for the first time. When I open the Layout Editor Window from the CIW, a warning pops up in my CDS.log file informing that, it could not find the ...../ic613/tools.lnx86/dfII/etc/tools/assura directory to load environment variables. Anyone please write me what does it mean. How could I fix it ?

Thank you ...

    Hi iamlearning

I forgot to mention that it is no longer necessary to set LD_LIBRARY_PATH variable in the cshrc file. It used to be a requirement but this is now being set in the wrappers for the current releases and so users do not have to deal with this variable anymore. Please remove it from your cshrc file.

    Best regards
    Quek

    Hi Quek,

Can you give an overview of which tools do and don't need to be included in .cshrc (or whatever one's startup script may be)? In my department, most users are using IC614, ASSURA41, EXT81, MMSIM72 in their work. Will the libraries corresponding to the tools included in $PATH be loaded automatically, or does it only apply to specific tools?

    Thanks,

    Tarek

    Hi Tarek

I am running the latest versions of IC614, MMSIM72, EXT912, PVS911, ASSURA41, EDI91, ICC11241 and KQV51. All can run fine without setting LD_LIBRARY_PATH in cshrc file. The library files are loaded automatically by the tool itself. The binaries for each tool would of course still have to be added to the user path in the cshrc file.

Thank you Quek for your information. I removed LD_LIBRARY_PATH from my .cshrc file. However, there is no change :( .

    Hi Everyone

Just to re-emphasize that the removal of LD_LIBRARY_PATH is not meant to resolve the variable loading error described in this thread. I think there is some misunderstanding that removing LD_LIBRARY_PATH will resolve the error. No, it will not. The variable loading error has to be resolved by studying the initialization files of the pdk to see how the variables are being loaded.

    Best regards
    Quek
