How to use BSIM-CMG models to build and simulate FinFET circuits

Hi All,

I need to simulate FinFET based circuits

I have BSIM-CMG codes and models from www-device.eecs.berkeley.edu/.../

this includes veriloga files.va and files.include and model card.nmos files

I tried several methods to add these in Cadence, but still something missing

so I am asking about the right way to add such files to enable circuit simualtion.

if any one managed to do this before, could help.

Thanks

Sir, but I am not getting any properties after pressing 'q' although my symbol has imported all the four terminals correctly.

    Hi,

I followed your instructions but I do not know how to attach the parameter files. Can you help me?

     Thanks

    me too :)

I tried to attach it but I did not manage, I inserted them manually from the file

But there should be a way.

    Regards

    Hi,

Did you insert them manually in ADE? If you did so, I don't think there is any distinction possible between NMOS and PMOS. If you copied into verilogA files, which file did you copy them to? I tried but I get a lot of errors.

     Thanks

Does any one tried to import the .verilog & .include files of this model ( bsim CMG) into cadence? Bsim CMG is not included in IC 5 , so I think I have to use the verilog files I tried to import them , but error occur "Error can not include "bsimcmg_main"

The key is not to use spectre from IC5141, but to use spectre from an MMSIM stream instead. IC5141 was released in 2004, and in late 2004 we took the decision to split the simulators into a separate stream. So even if you are using IC5141, you shouldn't be using spectre from IC5141 because we've had 10 major releases of MMSIM since then - you'd be using a 10 year old version of spectre otherwise. These newer MMSIM streams can be used together with IC5141, and bsimcmg has been built in to spectre for some time now.

Doing this will be much simpler than trying to use VerilogA models in a very old version of spectre (which may have issues with the VerilogA used anyway).

    Regards,

    Andrew.

I added the verilog files and made a block of the finfet
I also added the modelcard.nmos but I added the values of design variables manually , when I do DC analysis ( I V characteristics ) is OK But when iI make parametric sweep on l nothing changes ( all curves coincide ) as if it couldn't see the variable l , If anyone has any idea about what may be the problem?

Without seeing what you are doing it's hard to know what is wrong (I still think that using the built in bsimcmg would be more sensible). Contacting customer support might be the best avenue so that we can then hopefully see your data/setup?
