GRID size issue

Hello, 

In configuration files user would be asked to put some technological parameters. That's why I've checked in different technologies what is the unit in which cadence gives the dimensions. It was microns. Now my question: is it always microns, or may user for example change this unit. If it changes all my calculations using data given in microns will be inaccurate when Cadence will give my data in e.g nanometers...

  • I'm not sure what configuration files you're talking about, but if it's related to dimensions in the database, DBUperUU and userUnits are configurable per viewType. userUnits can be one of micron, millimeter, centimeter, meter, mil and inch. 

    In CDB releases (IC5141 and earlier), these settings can be on the cellView, library, tech lib, or cdsenv (effectively they seed the cellView settings), whereas in OA releases (e.g. IC613) this information is stored in the techFile:

    viewTypeUnits(
     ;( viewType		userUnit       dbuperuu		  )
     ;( --------		--------       --------		  )
      ( maskLayout		"micron"	2000		)
    )

    Sorry - I didn't see your previous post - we had a network failure here in the UK at the weekend, so a few emails went missing.

    Anyway, it depends where you're starting from. If it's a cellView ID, you can do:

    cv~>userUnits
