Bindkey to navigate DialogBoxes

Hi all,

I have tried to find the solution on this forumn, but have been unable to find it. I appologize in advance if the solution is somewhere and i couldnt find it.

What i would really like to do is the following:

Assign a bindkey which opens a dialog box, then changes a parameter inside the dialog box, and finally closes the dialog box.

I havent been able to make it such that after the dialog box is opened, the rest of the commands for the bindkey are executed. If i press the bind key again after bringing focus to the main window, then it will perform the rest of the actions. I would really like to automate all of this.

Thank you very much,

Shayan

    Hi Shayan,

    Not sure you really mean a dialog box or a form? Either way, the best solution is to try to avoid a form interaction at all and use a direct (non user interface) function to do what you want. Failing that, the approach that usually works is:

    hiRegTimer("functionToInteractWithFormOrDialog()" 0)
    bringUpTheFormOrDialog()

    The hiRegTimer() allows a SKILL expression (in a string) to be executed n tenths of a second after the UI toplevel has returned. So this means that if the form or dialog is blocking SKILL execution (which is usually the case), it will be executed after the form has appeared.

    If you search around for hiRegTimer (probably on this forum, but certainly on http://support.cadence.com ) you'll find many examples, I'm sure.

    Regards,

    Andrew.
