Adding conditions in param section of dbCreateParamInst!!!

Hai everyone,

I am trying to add conditions inside the dbCreateParamInst's param section, Is this possible??

ie: i have two conditions cond1: MET1 cond2: MET1:pin which are elements in the table i created.

I am checking the the length of each and if MET1 is the condition then i instantiate a pcell with layer being "MET1" "drawing" if length i find after parsing is 2 i instantiate with layer being "MET1" "pin"(instead of "drawing").Is this feasible??

 the code i created is:

         dbCreateParamInst(
            cvd mastercv "inst1" list(0 0) "R0" 1

                   list( list( "layer1"  "string"   if( length(parseString(car(Table[i])  ":")) = 1 then
                                                                       list(car(Table[i]) "drawing")
                                                          else
                                                                      list(car(parseString(carTable[i]) ":"))
                                                                           cadr(parseString(car(Table[i]) ":"))))

                             )

When i run this i get the following WARNING:

*WARNING*(parser): illegal left hand side of assignment operator -  length(parseString(car(Table[i])  ":"))

Can anyone help?? Or is my concept of getting instants itself is wrong??

Thanks,

Messi

    Hi Messi,

The problem is because you used = (assignment) rather than == (equality). The error message indicates that too.

There's no reason why you can't use conditional functions like this - but you do need to get the condition itself right!

    Hi Andrew,

Thanks alot.Sorry for that silly mistake i made. Thanks for the fast reply.

Warning removed but its showing error: Inavlid string - "MET1" "pin"

If you can help me out,i am also trying to debug the error.

     Once again thanks, :-)

    Hi Messi,

I didn't look in detail at your code before, but the reason for the error is fairly obvious. You are trying to pass a string parameter for layer1, but you're actually passing a list of two strings. You'll either need to make your pcell have two parameters, layer1, purpose1 (say), or you'll have to change the type to a list and handle that appropriately within the pcell.

    Regards,

    Andrew.

    Hi,

I too figured the mistake.but dont know how to remove it.

in the rodCreateRect command of my masterpcell code i have wriiten as:

                  ?layer layer1

and in the formal argument section of pcell  i have passed

              (layer1 "MET1")

How to modify it so that unless some conditions as i gave before the purpose for the layer is "drawing" else "pin(as in this case - should depend on element parsed"

    Thanks,

    Messi

    Hi Messi,

As I said in my last reply, you'll either need to define your pcell with an additional parameter for the purpose (probably with default value "drawing"), or you will need to declare the formal parameter layer1 for the pcell as being a list type (in which case you would always have to pass it a list of layer and purpose).

Alternatively you could pass the layer-purpose pair in the "MET1:pin" form (or whatever it was) and then do the parseString within the pcell itself?

    Regards,

    Andrew

    Hai,

Thanks for the help :-) i used another parameter to provide the purpose.

    Thanks,
