tooltips for listBoxField not working as intended

Hi, I do have a listBoxField embedded in a form (created using hiCreateForm) and i am trying to add tooltips for the list elements in the listBoxField.

myForm->myListBoxField->hiTooltip=list("str1' "str2" "str3" "str4')

Now, when i hover my cursor onto the first element of a listBoxField it displays the first tooltip "str1" correctly, but from the second element onwards the same tooltip1 ("str1") is displayed till the last list element in the my listBoxField. Apparently its not updating the tooltip for the corresponding element in the listboxfield. 

What must be going wrong? I have no clue. I did try for radio widget and other widgets where tooltip works properly as intended. 

Also i see no posts on tooltip since 2008. Please help.

    This looks like a bug or it might also be that listBoxField is currently not supported for tooltips. I have reproduced the problem using the latest version IC614.510. CCR858779 has been filed to fix it. Thanks for reporting the problem. : )

  • Spooky - Quek replied just as I was composing my reply having just tested this. Anyway, the documentation actually says that the value of hiToolTip can be:

    • A list of strings: list("tooltip1" "tooltip2" "tooltip3" ...)

    Specify a list of tool tips for a radio, toggle, or button-box field. 

    It doesn't say that a list can be specified for list box fields. So probably this is an enhancement request (a reasonable one though).

    Andrew, the manual (Product version 31.09) also states as below in the section for "hiCreateListBoxField" in page no. 431. So, I believe the tooltip feature is implemented but has a bug as reported. Also it partially works.

    For information on creating tooltips for fields, see “Creating Tool Tips for Fields” on page 349.

  • I didn't say that tooltips weren't supported on list box fields - they are supported. However, a list of tooltips (as opposed to a single tooltip used everywhere) is only supported for radio, toggle and button-box fields. The behaviour you are seeing is that it is only using a single tooltip, which is consistent with the documentation.

    I do entirely agree that it would be useful for this to work though, which is why Quek's enhancement CCR makes sense (I commented as such in that CCR).
