Refresh tech lib information from disk

I'm trying to update the tech lib for opened cellviews but I couldn't find an easy way to do that. Say my opened cellview has no tech lib information and is attached to "cdsDefTechLib" by default. I updated the data.dm file from command line via p4 sync and now I want the opened cellview to use the proper tech lib defined in the updated data.dm file. How can I do this without restarting Cadence?

I tried techBindTechFile, techSetTechLibName etc. but all of them requires the data.dm file to be writable (the file is not writable for protection since it's revision controlled). Is there a way to refresh library properties directly from disk? Thanks!

Try techRefreshTechFile. I think this will do what you want.

Hi Austin CAD Guy, thanks for the reply. However, the command you suggested doesn't work.

It is easy to reproduce my problem:

    1. Make a copy of your library's data.dm (this library should already be attached to the proper tech lib)
    2. Attach this library to cdsDefTechLib
    3. Replace this library's data.dm with the old data.dm which has the correct tech lib attachment
    4. Set the permission of data.dm to read only
Now there's no way to force cellviews in this library to get the proper tech file without restarting Cadence.

First, moving the data.dm is probably not changing any flags that say the tech data needs to be updated. I attached a new techDB to the library and the data in the library was updated, even when the data.dm file was read only.

The LSW did not update, even when the data.dm file was writable. Is this the problem you are seeing? You probably want to file with support so R&D will look at it.
