How to use hiCreateLayerCyclicField to let the layer is None (default layer)

Hi All,

I want to use hiCreateLayerCyclicField , but I don't know how to let the layer is None (default layer) ,

when user callback , then can get the layer he wants.

e.g.  Like QCell , default diff layer is None (or no any layer) until you select one layer

layer = hiCreateLayerCyclicField(
          techId
          "Layer"
          ""
          leGetValidLayerList(techId) || list(leGetEntryLayer(techId))   //<==== here
          leGetEntryLayer(techId)
          'layer
        ); hiCreateLayerCyclicField

Thank you,

Charley

    Hi Charley,

    Actually I think it is the line below that sets the default / initial layer-purpose for be displayed.  However, I have played with this briefly and setting it to nil will just pick the first valid lpp from the list, and trying to set it to something like list("" "") or list(0 0) does not work since the layer purpose pair has to exist.  I am not sure if we can do this from the hiCreateLayerCyclicField(), sorry.

    Regards,

    Lawrence.

    Here's how to do it. You need to use a cyclic field, rather than the hiCreateLayerCyclicField function, and then create the choices yourself using hiMakeLPChoiceList. hiCreateLayerCyclicField does that for you, but doesn't have the additional flexibility you want of adding a blank choice.

    cvId=geGetEditCellView()
    techId=techGetTechFile(cvId)
    validLayers=leGetValidLayerList(techId)
    choices=hiMakeLPChoiceList(techId validLayers)
    ; add the blank choice to the beginning
    choices=cons(" " choices)
    layerCyclicField=hiCreateCyclicField(
      ?name 'myLayer
      ?prompt "My Layer"
      ?choices choices
      ; make blank the default
      ?defValue " "
    )
    hiCreateAppForm(
      ?name 'MYexampleForm
      ?fields list(list(layerCyclicField 0:0 300:30 100))
    )
    hiDisplayForm(MYexampleForm)

    Best Regards,

    Andrew.
