Automatic import of layer set file in IC6

Eric L14

 Hi all,

In the layer assisant, I have exported a layer set file. Each time I open a new layout, I should import the layer set file. Is there a skill function to do it or another way to set a default layer set file ?

Thanks

Eric

    Hi all,

Any news on that topic ?

In IC5, it was possible to do that with a simple load("layer.drf")

    Regards

    Eric

If you're talking about a display resource file, that would be loaded with drLoadDrf("layer.drf") - exactly as in IC5141. I suspect that's not what you mean though?

    Andrew.

     Andrew,

Sorry for my previous mail, but the file is not a drf file.

In IC6, the export layer set comamnd create a file under .cadence/dfII/layerSets/<technology>/<export file>.layerSet

    The content is like that

     # Do not remove or change these header lines.
    # layerSet file version 1.0
    nwell drawing
    nwell pin
    pwell drawing
    pwell pin
    hnw drawing

In fact I would like to load this file automatically when opening a layout view instead of doing some clicks in the layer assistant

    Thanks

    Eric

    Eric,

In IC615 they are loaded automatically. In IC614, there is only a private function (which will appear in the CDS.log if you look at it), but the problem is that it requires the layer palette to have been created, and you need to figure out the id for the right layer palette for that window; I'd say you're better off not trying to do this in IC614 but take advantage of the automatic load in IC615 instead.

    Regards,

    Andrew.

    Hi Eric,

You can dump out the layersets under the path you mentioned above.

Then, you can move around the layer to the order as you wish to, but be sure no duplicate layer in there.

That's what I did with my layers and work perfectly on IC6.1x.

    Hope this helps!

    -Kathy

    Hi all,

    Thanks for your reply.

Andrew, Yes it is automatically loaded in IC6.1.5, but what I would like is also to select it by default. I saw the private function which do it.  As you say, I need to figure out the id for the right layer palette for that window. How doing that ?

    Thanks

    Eric

    Eric,

If you name the layer set "default" (i.e. so it's saved in default.layerSet) then it will get loaded by default. Is that OK - probably this is better than using private functions?

    Regards,

    Andrew.
