Merge polygon while stream-out

kb how

Hi expert,

Its there a way to merge all same layer's polygon during stream-out, i mean in the same hierarhy level as well.

As far as i know, Cadence env only has a feature which is to merge path segment when we do stream out. Do we managed to merge the sma layer's polygon as well, OR is there any option i can include in my template file. Thanks

Cadence Version: IC615.

Thanks

    How,

I'm not aware of there being a way to do this. I'm not sure why it would be important to do it - but if you have a good reason, my suggestion would be to log a service request so that an enhancement request can be filed with appropriate justification as to why you need this.

    Best Regards,

    Andrew.

    Thanks Andrew.

There is some testing and evaluation being carry out, in reducing the idle time and disk space during layout. One of the suggestion is to evaluate the time reduction if we convert or merge the polygon during stream-out for DRC checks. That's why i post the question here.

    Hi How,

I'm not sure why merging the polygon during stream out would save time. If anything I would have thought it would slow things down, as it's more work - and I doubt the disk space saving would be significant. Since the DRC engine will most likely merge shapes, I'd have thought it would be redundant.

    Regards,

    Andrew.

Thanks Adrew. Actually this is some user request in evaluation of the DRC and Stream-in/out flow. I just assist him in getting more info.
