importing GDS2 from Mentor Graphics to Cadence change the layer

 Hi

Can somebody help me my layout after importing GDS2 file from Mentor Graphics to Cadence change the metal layer eg M1 to MA. I've got warning that "Stream layer-datatype pair is not defined in the layer map file. This layer-purpose pair will be ignored".

I've designed my layout in IC Station Mentor using CMR8SF and need to finalise my layout in Cadence before sending to foundry. Please let me know how to solve the layer problem.

Thanks

    Hi nana

I think this is because your gds mapping between ICstation and Virtuoso is wrong. E.g. When exporting layout from ICstation, you mapped M1 to gds number 123 but in Virtuoso, you mapped gds number 123 to layer MA instead of M1. Using the gds mapping from ICstation, you can creating a Virtuoso mapping file and use it in the "Import-stream" form. E.g.

    M1 drawing 1 0
    M2 drawing 2 0
    ...
    MA drawing 99 0

The "Stream ... not defined" message is most probably not related to the "M1 to MA" issue but you will still need to check if important design data has been dropped. Sometimes only labels are dropped and can be ignored. But if it is actual layout data that is being dropped, you will need to do the correct mapping.
