Fluid Guardring Questions

After many, many months I am finally on a project using IC6.1.5!  My first business was to try to figure out the answer to my question from a long time ago (Link is to post in this community)

 www.cadence.com/.../1267301.aspx

Now I have a new set of issues.... sigh.  I do not have any write permissions to the techfile and the techfile does not have any Guard Rings defined!  So, I'm back to square one with the exception that I can't seem to find enough answers in the documentation.   I'm sure there is there a way to set up my own Guard Ring outside of the tech file since I was able to find the fluidGuardRingInstallPath environment variable but I can not find any documentation on how to set everythign up in skill or with GUI?

Can anyone give me a direction to start, I have a very short amount of time before I have to start moving polygons around and won't be able to spend more time "playing" with the new tool.

Thanks in advance,

Dan

     Thanks Lawrence,

I created a separate techfile and brought it in.  I attached it to the existing work library and was able to define my own guardring in the database and make guardrings, polygons, etc.  Woot!

      I have a couple of problems/issues though....

1: The ring comes in as a cell (kind of like when you make a 2x2 via) that I can't chop, stretch, etc.  Is there a way to make it choppable, or do I have to flatten it and get back to a ton of contacts in the database slowing things down?

    2. Some of the contacts come in off grid.... that's just freaky.  Should it be getting the grid resolution from the initial techfile?

    3. Probably won't come up often, but when I make a 45, some of the contacts do not follow the minimum contacts spacing rule.

Or, is all of this in the documentation and I just have to start reading again?

Thanks again, I really appreciate your help.
