help - double click to end path - not working?

imaneet

I used to end path/wire by just double clicking anywhere, now i need to double click at the center of the path to end it. if i want to end a path where the mouse isn't in the center, i have to hit enter/return key. single left click = mouseAddPt() enter/return key = mouseApplyorFinishPoint() could you help me get this function back, what i want is end a path where i just double click anywhere and end it. Thanks in advance.

    Hi Andrew,

I am using Red Hat and I am referring to applications-->preferences-->windows-->select windows when the mouse moves over them.

If I enable that, I have the same problem as imaneet described, If disabled then everything is Ok. currently I have that enabled But I have changed the bindkey for mousApplyOrFinishPoint with the addition of a Shift key. I am used to this setup now that is why I have forgotten already the other solution that I was referring in my first reply.

    regards,

    lrlsk

I too am using RedHat so I'm guessing you're using Gnome rather than KDE? Which version of RedHat and which version of the window manager are you using?

    Andrew.

Thanks lrlsk. I did what you said above (applications-->preferences-->windows-->turn off select windows...) and it does work now if i double click, the path would end and apply mousApplyOrFinishPoint. and besides even if i had that turn on (applications-->preferences-->windows-->select windows...) it does not wok 100%of the time and i still need to click the window in order to have it the current window.

i am too is using redhat but not sure what version  is it, unless i reboot. but i've clicked the panel and do an "about"and says, GNOME desktop ver. 2.8.0

but anyway, we just got work that we are going to switch to the cadence 615, i've look at it a little bit and it does look different from the 5141, it looks more like a windows based layout editor, it's fancy and have too many icons :)

If you do "cat /etc/redhat-release" it will tell you.

I tried this yesterday evening (Using Gnome 2.28.2 on RHEL 6.1 (Santiago) - whilst this isn't supported for IC5141, I tend to be fairly aggressive for OS versions as this allows me to better see what does and doesn't work). Anyway,  I see the problem when I have "select windows when the mouse moves over them". Normally I use KDE so don't see the problem (even with the similar option in KDE enabled).

I did some digging and found CCR 543332 on this. The problem only occurs with IC5141 (because it is Motif-based) - in IC615 (for example) it does not occur.

There's actually a bug with RedHat on this, but it doesn't seem as if any progress has ben made. There's no plans to fix anything in IC5141 (there are no further hotfixes planned currently, and even if there were I'm not sure this is that straightforward to fix in the tool itself, since it's a window manager interaction). The RedHat bug suggests that it should happen with other window managers, but that doesn't seem to be the case from what I've tried, and given what has been reported to Cadence.

The workarounds are either to use a different bindkey than double click, or to not have the "select windows when the mouse over them" checked, or to use KDE.

    Regards,

    Andrew.

Thanks Andrew and Irisk, I would consider this "case closed" and resolved.

Thanks guys, I learned a lot.
