Detecting the cadence version

Is there a simple way to detect which version one is running? I need to change some bindkeys based on whether my default waveform viewer will be AWV or VIVA..

Thanks

    Hi,

    Yes, you can use getVersion() [or getVersion(t) if you want more detail,  such as the subversion].  This way you can programmatically detect which version you are running.  If you do this in the .cdsinit, you can then load the appropriate version of the bindkey file for the version that you are currently running.

    Hope this helps!

    Lawrence.

     Thanks!

    Anybody want to post a code snippet that will get the "6" from "@(#) $CDS: virtuoso version 6.1.5 01/... " :) ?

    I've been using this for more than 15 years - this will get the 6.1.5 bit (pretty trivial to parse it further - maybe car(parseString(abGetVersionNumber() "."))

    /***************************************************************
    *                                                              *
    *                     (abGetVersionNumber)                     *
    *                                                              *
    * Get the Cadence version number *
    *                                                              *
    ***************************************************************/

    (procedure (abGetVersionNumber)
      (let ((parsed (parseString (getVersion))))
           /* in 4.4 onwards, version string is slightly different */
           (if (equal (caddr parsed) "version")
               (cadddr parsed)
               (caddr parsed)
               )))

     Hi,

    As an alternative to what Andrew wrote, I've been using the following snippet of code:

      when(subVer = cadr(parseString(getVersion(t)))
    cond(
    (rexMatchp("IC" subVer)
    mainVer = substring(subVer 3 5)
    )
    (t
    mainVer = substring(subVer 1 7)
    )
    )
    ); when

    This should allow for the different format between IC5141 and IC61x, mainVer would be "5.10.41", "6.1.4", "6.1.5" etc.

    Hope this helps.

    Regards,

    Lawrence.
