string concatenation with cadence SKILL

Hi, I wonder how to concatenate these strings with SKILL in IC5.10.41:

VT
(“
/out
“)

So that I have a transient voltage net at the end such as
VT(“/out”)
which I can use the plot command to plot in a WaveScan window?
I mainly have difficulty to insert those double quotes inside
that string.

Why would you need to concatenate these? Can't you just do:
signal="/out"
plot(VT(signal))
If for some odd reason you needed to build a string containing the expression above, you could do:
signal="/out"
expr=strcat("VT(\"" signal "\")")
but I don't see why you'd need to do that. Usually it's because people are using the wrong approach and using evalstring() to do evaluation of an expression unnecessarily.

Thanks, Andrew. The first one did plot the signal correctly, but it shows VT(signal)
as the curve name. How to show VT("/out") instead?

For the second one, that is exactly what I confused about the capability
of strcat function as it outputs VT(\"/out\") instead of VT("/out") ?!

You could use

plot(VT(signal) ?expr list(signal))

to show the signal name as the name of the signal.

Yeah, but it will only show /out not VT("/out"), like you'd manually plot
that transient signal, right? Thanks,

If you really want it to show that expression, you'll either need to pass the strcat I showed earlier:

plot(signal ?expr list(strcat("VT(\"" signal "\")")))

Or use:

awvPlotWaveform(currentWindow() list(signal))

If there's no existing window, you'll need to call newWindow() first.

Note, I did no testing of these - this is from memory - so apologies if there are any typos.
