getting particular layer and purpose from validlayers of techfile

hi,

I have all the validlayers from techfile .Now i want to get a list of all the metal layers of drawing purpose.

what is the skill function i need to use for this functionality??

    You will probably have to some searching in your techfile to find if or how your metal layers are defined.

    You need to do a techfile dump. In the CIW, Tools->Technology File Manager a GUI will pop up the click on the Dump button and select the library and all the definitions. You may want to see with your cad group what their mechanism for defining metal layers.

     If you see the metal definitions in the techfile you will need to use the Skill finder to get the appropriate function to extract the values from the techfile. Search for techGet and a list of functions will give you a good starting point to get info.

    If it not defined, you have to hard code to get the metal layers. Ex: if(rexMatchp("metal" lp_string) lpMetal = cons(lp_string lpMetal))

    Sorry I could not be more specific, but each company sets up the techfile to their own needs and format.
