issue with member function

hi,

I have a list as following: 

temp=(2.12 2.04 1.96 1.88 1.8
    1.72 1.64 1.56 1.48 1.4
    1.32 1.24 1.16 1.08 1.0
    0.92 0.84 0.76 0.68 0.6
    0.52 0.44 0.36 0.28 0.2
    0.12 0.04
)

I want to check any arbitrary number returned by one function is there in the list or not.

I found out member function.

 m=yCoord(centerBox(obj)).This is the function which gives the value 0.12 .i want to check whether this number is there in the list or not.

So when i am giving l=member(m temp) it is giving output as nil although it is present in the list.

So how to resolve this issue?
