arranging a list

hi,

I have a list of floating point numbers.I want to arrange all the elements in it in increasing order.

 is there any skill function for it Can some one help me?

  • listOfNums=sort(listOfNums 'lessp)

    Be aware that sort is a destructive function, so you _must_ use the return value and not expect the list in the first argument to be sorted in place). You'll see this if you do:

    sort(listOfNums 'lessp)
    listOfNums

    If listOfNums didn't start with the smallest value in the first element, it will end up shorter than it was to start off with, with some of the values missing (for efficiency, sort modifies the existing list cells). Just wanted to warn you in advance to prevent you making a rather common error.
