Setting location of custom toolbar

Leo John

Hi,

The query is about setting the location of a custom toolbar. When the toolbar gets placed using the hiPlaceToolbar function, there's this option to mention the location - top/bottom/left/right.

hiPlaceToolbar(
w_windowID
o_hiToolbar
[s_toolbarArea]
)

But, it gets placed along the same row of toolbars which are already there - thereby getting squeezed to a corner. How do I set it to get placed on a new row automatically and always?

Thanks,

Leo

    Leo,

I'm not sure that you can, currently. There are some private APIs to do this - I'd wondered about hiInsertToolbar but I think that's going to insert it into an existing row.

So you probably need to contact customer support.

    Kind Regards,

    Andrew.

    Hi Andew,

Thanks  for checking this. hiInsertToolbar adds it to the last row. I'll contact Customer Support for this. But, wondering if you could please let me know the private API if it's okay?

    Thanks,

    Leo

    Leo,

No - I can't do that. It's a public forum, and the point of a private API is that it may change and we wouldn't want customer code to break due to them using a private function. We occasionally give out private APIs if they are going to be made public in the near future, but this really must be accompanied by a CCR to request that it becomes public.

I'm also not 100% sure that the private API I found does exactly what you want anyway (without further experimentation; if you're going to contact customer support anyway, it would be better the AE there does that as I'm a bit short of time to do detailed investigations right now).

    Regards,

    Andrew.

Sure Andew, makes sense. I'll contact CS for the same - hope it's okay to point to this thread, by which I might save some time.

    Thanks,

    Leo
