Skill function which adds a specific instance in Virtuoso Layout L

Hi all,

Could anyone please guide me if there exists a function similar to leHiCreateInst in Layout L, which can however accept arguments about library, instance and view?

E.g. in Schematic L editor we have schHiCreateInst which accepts arguments, therefore I can use it to quickly instantiate components with key combinations. I want to be able to do the same but in Layout L, however I have difficulties figuring out how to achieve this.

I would appreciate very much any comments.

Regards,
Deyan

    The function you are looking for is :

    1) dbCreateInst

    or 2) dbCreateParamInst if the instance is a pcell, (with parameters)

    example :

     cv=geGetWindowCellView() rot="RO"; or R90...

    X=0 Y=0

    db=dbCreateParamInst( cv (dbOpenCellViewByType "PRIMLIB" "rpoly2c" "layout") nil (list X Y) rot 1 list(list("r" "float" R2) list("w" "float" W2) list("l" "float" L2) ))  ;

    Or even : 3)

     dbCreateParamInstByMasterName( d_cellView t_libName t_cellName t_viewName t_name l_origin l_orient [ x_numInst [ l_params [ b_physOnly ] ] ] )

     Hope it helps

    Thanks ebecheto,

    Great, it sort-of works now, I want to instantiate non-parameterized cell views. I tried the following,

     dbCreateInst(geGetWindowCellView() dbOpenCellViewByType("via_lib" "M1_M2_min" "layout") symbolToString(gensym("I")) 0:0 "R0")

     This works, however it places the cell at origin 0:0, how can I modify it not to place the cell at 0:0, but instead to make it "moveable and ready to place with a mouse click where the cursor is located". I know there are some mouseAddPt().. etc... functions, but I am still unsure which one to use in order to achieve this.

    Deyan,

    You could continue with the way you're doing it, and use enterPoint to prompt the user where to place the instance, but you're not going to get a ghost image of the instance before placement that way.

    Another approach would be to use this:

    procedure(CCFplaceInstance(lib cell view "t")
      leSetEnv("instLibName" lib)
      leSetEnv("instCellName" cell)
      leSetEnv("instViewName" view)
      hiRegTimer("hiToggleEnterForm()" 0)
      leHiCreateInst()
    )

    The hiRegTimer is a trick to hide the options form after the create instance has started. So you get a flash as the form appears and disappears (and you can hit F3 to bring it back). But apart from that, it should work.

    Regards,

    Andrew.
