Skill Pcells Loading virtuoso 6.1.5

Hi all,

I have a issue to load Pcell code by libInit file in 6.1.5 virtuoso.

I have a lib in libManager dedicated to Pcells.

When i start virtuoso, Pcell Normally the code must be loaded when i access to libMananger, purpose in my case he is loaded when i click for first time, on "file" button in CIW.

Does someone already had this trouble?
If yes, what should I do?

 Thanks In advance

    Hi Jerome

The instruction contained in the libInit.il file is loaded automatically when a library is accessed for the very first time. It does not matter how it is accessed. Invoking the libManager or accessing CIW's File menu, which ever is done first by the user, will trigger the access to libraries defined in the cds.lib file and therefore the libInit.il file associated with these libraries will be loaded.

If you don't use any of these commands after starting up virtuoso and simply type ddGetObj( <library name> ) will also trigger the loading of libInit.il because it is the first time that library is been accessed.

This is expected behavior for libInit.il.

    Cheers,

    Li

I believe the File menu triggers access of each library as a consequence of the history entries in the File menu. I think there are some checks to see if the cellView in the history still exist, and it's these checks which cause the libraries to be accessed.

I may be wrong about this as I haven't checked recently - this is from memory.

Either way, as Li said, this is normal behaviour and it doesn't really matter when library initialisation occurs.

     Andrew,Cheers

Thanks a lot for your answer .

I'm just wonder why Pcell are loaded when i click on "file" button and not when i open a cell directly by libManager .

To force loading , now i use in .cdsinit :  loadTopContextForms("libInit.il.Path")

    Jerome:

It is true that the libInit.il file is not loaded while you are browsing within the library manager. However, it will be loaded as soon as you attempt to open a cellview from library manager. This is because the library manager is a standalone application and it does not contain the database nor the SKILL sub-systems. Once an open command is made, that instruction is sent to Virtuoso and triggers the loading of libInit.il file for that library.

I don't see a need to force load the libInit.il file.

    Cheers,
