Delete n number of instances of the same name from a shematic

Hi All,

I am looking to find and delete n number of instances of the same name from a schematic cell view(for example i have 10,000 DCAP cells and I want to delete only 1000 of the them) is there any way to do it through the schematic find function or is it easier to write a skill code to do it. I could do that easily in the layout with the are option the search utility but I couldnt find similar utility in the schematic. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi

The Find command in both Schematic and Layout editors offer the ability to search by cell name. However I don't know of a way to limit the search to a limited number of your choice. Would you mind elaborate more about how do you do that with Layout's search utility? Is it the Find command or something else?

By the way, you could first launch Layout's Find command,  then make your schematic window to be current active window and use the Layout Find command that is already displayed on the schematic data as the command works on the current active window.

Disclaimer: I was surprised the layout find command could work on a schematic cellview and I don't know are there cases where it would not work.

In the Layout You can use the area option and select in an area, you cannot select n number of instances there though, but I found that layout search utility has more options than the schematic, but anyways I found a solution in the schematic. As you said thats interesting to know that layout find option works in the schematic window as well, I should have guessed that anyways thank you.
