Creating Nets using SKILL

Hey , I am very new to the SKILL (and Virtuoso Layout editing as well). I know the dbCreateNet function to create a net, but I am confused on how to assign a net to a rectangle.

EXAMPLE:

I have a rectangle , I want to assign 1 end of rectangle as Net1:1 and other side as Net1:2,

Net1:1--| RECTANGLE |--Net1:2

Is Net a pin or terminal ? any good documentation for understanding the Nets will be helpful for me.

 Thanks

You can add a shape (a figure) to a net using dbAddFigToNet. However, you cannot have one end of a rectangle on one net and the other end (whatever that means) on a different net. You'd have to have some kind of instance (e.g. a resistor component) which had two terminals.

Shapes (and vias) are the physical manifestations of connectivity - so they represent a net, rather than the junction between two nets. For that you need an instance in between.

    Regards,

    Andrew.

Thanks Andrew for your guidance , Can you please tell me in Which documentation I can read more about "Net". I have read the user guide for virtuo layout editing (2005) but unfortunately I can't find information about Nets in there.

    Farhan,

    <ICinstDir>/doc/skdfref/skdfref.pdf Chapter 2 "Database Access".

Or you could (say) search for dbCreateNet in cdnshelp (or using Help->Virtuoso Documentation in the CIW).

    Kind Regards,

    Andrew.
