Reattach technology library without running updater

In ICADV12-ISR7 I have a design library which I want to reattach to a different technology library, but I don't want any of the technology updater code to run to edit my layouts in any way (e.g. to rereference vias, fluid guardrings, etc.).  The reason is because it is too slow (~5 minutes) and I know it is not necessary in this particular case.

 So can I reattach without running the updater by doing this?

bag = dbOpenBag(ddGetObj("myLib") "a")
prop = dbGetPropByName(bag "techLibName")
prop->value = "something else"
dbSaveBag(bag)
dbCloseBag(bag)

    Tom,

    The correct way to do this is to use the techBindTechFile() function:

    techBindTechFile(ddGetObj("myLib") "newTechLib")

    The default for the third argument should be "tech.db" (although you could use techGetDefaultTechName() to retrieve that) and the default for the fourth argument is nil (which is the "update devices" argument).

    At least I think so. I've not checked about whether this updates the vias etc (from the description, it shouldn't).

    Regards,

    Andrew.
