Find the area which not overlapped by some layer.

Hello there,


I want to highlight the area which is not overlapped by some layer. For ex:- Highlight the area in a stdcell which is not covered by diffusion.

Any help in this regard within couple of days will be highly appreciated.

    Create a rectangle on a dummy layer (e.g. y0) which is the size of the cellView bBox (i.e. cvId~>bBox), and then collect all the shapes on the diffusion layer (something like car(exists(lpp cvId~>lpps lpp~>layerName=="diffusion" && lpp~>purpose=="drawing"))~>shapes, and then pass these two to dbLayerAndNot to find the region of the bBox which is not diffusion.

    Hello Andrew, Thanks for the reply. The algorithm that you gave want the cell in edit mode. But I want to highlight the area in read mode and I need to do it for nearly thousand std cells instantiated in a single cell.

    Hi Sharif,

    In that case you could use dbPointArrayAndNot() and then use geCreateHilightSet and geAddHilightPolygon to display the results. These wouldn't require edit mode on the cellView.

    In addition, you can open the cell in read only mode and create the shapes.

    Since you are looking at nested data, you will have to find the shapes nested in the hierarchy. Use dbGetTrueOverlaps to find the shapes and then transform the points to the top level using dbConcatTransform. You can keep the points in memory or create new shapes in the read only cellView. When the cellView is closed, the shapes are not saved.
