Schematic fanout (drive to load ratio) reporting SKILL code

I am looking for guidance and possibly example code to aid in my creation of a skill routine that allows a user to click on a schematic net (or possibly driving device) and then see a report showing the drive to load ratio (and also report the total W and L for the driving device as well as the total W and L for load devices) for the device driving that net.

This tool would need to traverse hierarchy to find all pertinent loading.

Any example of similar code which traverses through schematic hierarchy may be useful.

Many thanks!

    Ryan,

I don't have code to do this (maybe somebody else does). However, I wasn't sure giving the total W and total L is a useful thing to do. For the drivers, wouldn't you want the W/L and for loads I'd have thought W*L would be useful (actually that might not be enough if you're trying to find the gate capacitance).

    Regards,

    Andrew.

Thanks Andrew. I You are correct about splitting up the total W an L into categories. I was over simplifying the problem in hope to get an example that I could then modify.  The cadence probe assistant does something similar to what I am looking for. However it's missing the step of feeding back loading stats. If I could see the skill code to something similar to the this tool (or other probing skill code) I think I could manage to modify it for my needs.

Thanks again to Andrew and others for any help!

    Ryan
