Back-annotation of the current flowing through a pin

Hello,

Is there a label (similar to cdsTerm("pin_name") for voltage) to view, on a symbol, the value of the current flowing through a pin?

Thank you

Aldo

The label is the same. It's a SKILL Label, which depending on the settings of the annotation system, can be used to display either voltage or current (or in IC616, both). There isn't a different label for voltages and currents.

    Which version are you using?

    Regards,

    Andrew.

    Hi Andrew,

    I'm using 615isr20121027 version

    Best regards,

In that case you need to use Edit->Component Display in the schematic editor to change the labels to show currents rather than voltages (do the annotation of voltages first from ADE to make life easier).

The Edit Component Display form has been replaced in IC616 with a new Annotation Setup which fixes most of the issues with the old Component Display form and is a lot more flexible.

    Regards,

    Andrew.

    Hi Andrew,

I am also using IC615 (more specifically, IC615-64b.500.13).

I have tried the numerous advices (e.g. the description given here https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/comp.cad.cadence/eZXyLIUKAxw) on using the "Componen Display"-form for displaying currents in IC615, but whatever I do, it won't annotate anything other than voltages.  Do you have any advice on what could be the problem, or perhaps have some tips to force the annotations through SKILL?

    Max

Are you making sure that the currents are being saved? Look in the results browser to ensure that they are there.

Yes, although I have only tried this for cases where I save a selected set of currents (saving everything is something I usually try to avoid due to storage). However, I guess it should be possible to annotate the selected currents that are saved? At least, this works if only selected voltages are saved. I am not, at the moment, fully aware of all files loaded at start-up of my CIW session, as it follows a standard setup. Is there anything that could "force" this behaviour in any way, and is there some way to force current annotations, ie. through CIW or a SKILL procedure?

Yes, if only selected currents are saved, that should be possible. However, there's always the possibility that the termMapping is wrong in the CDF for the devices. Could you contact customer support? This would be far easier to debug if we could take a look...

    Regards,

    Andrew.
