Add and retrieve lists from a Master list

Hello,

I have a scenario to save multiple lists into one Master list and retrieve each lists from Master list.

Example: I want following lists to be saved in 1 master list and be able to retrieve them using a for loop. Can you help on how to proceed with this task?

list1='("a" "b" "c")
list2='("d" "e" "f")
list3='("g" "h" "i")

    So do you mean:

    foreach(listN list(list1 list2 list3)
      printf("List to process: %L\n" listN)
    )

    That seems fairly obvious, so I'm wondering if you meant something else by your question?

    Regards,

    Andrew.

    Hi Andrew,

    Thanks for the reply; Your suggestion helps but I am still not getting me the desired output as below:

    • I am reading a csv file; each line of the csv file is read as a list as I need to use ‘?choices; option in hiCreateReportField function to display each line.
    • Lists can be of any number depending on the lines in the CSV file.

    I am able to you use your suggestion but ?choices option in hiCreateReportField function DOESN’T DISPLAY OUTPUT in below code. Can you please provide any suggestions.

    ……(code)…..

    lista = readcsv(ln); each line has 6 items separated by comma

    listN = cons(list a ListN) ; adding each list into listN

    ……(code)…..

    ;Create the report field.

      reportField = hiCreateReportField(

         ?name 'reportField

         ?selectMode 'single

         ?sort nil

         ?headers list(`….); has 6 headers to match 6 items in list

        ?choices list(listN) ; DOESN’T DISPLAY OUTPUT. Provides a blank screen with no errors

    ); end

    ……(code)…..

    The problem is that you've given a rather incomplete description of your problem, missing the most important parts - i.e. how the actual data is produced! Since you've not provided your readcsv function, I am assuming that it returns a list of strings.

    If you are then building listN as a list of these lists by consing on one at a time, listN will be a list of lists of strings.

    Then when you call hiCreateReportField, you are passing a list of list of lists of strings. That's not what it is expecting. The expectation is that it gets passed a list of lists, with each list being a list of strings. In other words, what you have as listN. So my wild guess with only being able to see a fraction of the code is that it should be ?choices listN rather than ?choices list(listN).

    Regards,

    Andrew
