Change the Color of an instance in Virtuoso Schematic

Hi all,

I would like to know if there is a way to change the color of an instance in Virtuoso schematic binding a SKILL command to a hotkey. Typically all instances are green but I would like to be able to Change the Color of the contour (Symbol) depending on the function of the device (Signal path, biasing, ESD protection).

I checked the Display.drf file but there isn't any packet referring to the Symbol contour (there is instanceLbl set to Gold and instance set to red, which seems to me to be referring to the Pins).

Ideally I would like to be able to toggle between colors just as it is done when probing nets.

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Lucho.

The colors are assigned to packets which are assigned to the layer/purpose pairs. This is done in the techfile. The artwork is on the device/drawing LPP. Changing the packet contents will affect all the instances. If you want to only want to highlight one instance, you can use the geHighlight functions. When you find the instance, create a highlight set and create highlight elements based on the shapes in the master whose points are transformed to the instance. These can be on any layer but the y0-y9 or highlight0-9 layers are used most often for different colors. This will give you a great amount of control, just like probing.

The documentation is in cdnsHelp, look up geCreateHighlightSet.

You can also use geAddInstProbe() to add probes on instances.
