    Hi there,

the prop.xx file exists on 2 levels, the library level and the cell level.
The library level prop.xx file contains library properties e.g. what is the name of the techlib that it is attached to.
You may want to be careful to overwrite this file, when copying one library into another library.
The cell level prop.xx files contains properties related to the cell. e.g. CDF properties.
Again, depending on the information that is stored there, it could bring you in trouble.
I haven't seen a crash because of that yet.

    Cheers, Britta

    Hi Ravi & Britta,

Actually the prop.xx file can exist at the cellview level too.
It is a binary file and it contains the properties for that lib, cell or cellview,
including CDF properties (at the library, cell or cellview level). If there is
a prop.xx file at the copy destination, check first before deciding to copy
the prop.xx too. If you do not copy the prop.xx file you may be missing
    important properties (e.g. cell CDF).

I have not seen any reports of crashes related to prop.xx files.

    Regards,
    Lawrence.

Assuming you are copying a cell, you could potentially get the client crashing if it currently has the prop.xx file open (since you are in danger to deleting a file that is being used, which is never a good idea!). You should try to close all data before doing the copy.
Other than that, then as Britta said, you just need to decide whether copying the prop.xx is the right thing to do.
