Marking nets

Hi,

Is there any way to highlight all the nets in the design?

Using mark-net we can select an object in the layout and find its connectivity, I am searching for a function or option which will show the connectivity of all the blocks in the design.

Thanks,

Shahbaz

    Hi Shahbaz,

If you use Virtuoso Layout Suite XL to create the layout (i.e. work in a connectivity-driven way), then you can probe any net easily. You can also see unconnected nets, and so on.

If the layout was done without any connectivity, then the best solution would be to use a physical verification tool (e.g. Assura or PVS) to run LVS (Layout Versus Schematic) and then use the probing capabilities of that tool. The LVS tool could extract the connectivity and allow you to probe whatever you need.

I doubt very much that you'd want to show all the connectivity at once as it would be very hard to see anything!

    Regards,

    Andrew.

    Hi Andrew,

I don't have any schematic for my design (say my designs have different shapes ) and the size of the design is not very large.

I want to see how the drawn shapes are interconnected.

Any function/script  which can help me in viewing the connectivity of all the shapes at a time?

    Hi Shahbaz,

If your layout has instances of cellViews with pins (e.g. blocks or PCells) then you can use VLS XL with no connectivity source and use the extractor - then you can probe nets. You may need to set the extract depth to be greater than one to extract through the hierarchy.

If your instances have no pins, then it's going to be simpler to use the extraction part of an LVS tool as I mentioned before - because you'd probably need to do device recognition and so on.

Or you could just use mark net as you've been doing so far - but that's really intended for a small number of nets specified interactively.

    Regards,

    Andrew.

Thanks Andrew. I want to do it by using a script. I will pass an object name as the parameter and its connectivity should be highlighted. What is the SKILL function used for highlighting the connectivity?

Without knowing which of the several solutions I've suggested you're going to use, I can't really say. Even then there's no single function that does what you want anyway...

    Regards,

    Andrew.
