Display bus length- Skill

Hi ,

I have one script which I use to create buses in the layout using rodObjects.
I also want to know the length I have traversed as I draw the metal buses. Similar
to what we see in Virtuoso XL. Can we implement this in the Virtuoso layout editor too.
If not any bright Ideas related to this...
