How do you change the figGroup boundary edge color display?

    Paul,

Do you mean when using edit in place? Or the rest of the time (if there's a colour there the rest of the time, I must have missed that this is possible - I can go hunting if this is the case). Just trying to understand the context to your question.

    Regards,

    Andrew.

I have some layers/objects that are similar to the figGroup shape boundary. I would like to be able to change the figGroup color viewing at cell level or edit in place. I dont know if edit in place makes a difference.

    Paul,

Of course (silly me) figGroups can be displayed by turning the visibility on in the Objects assistant (in the palette).

Not sure what LPP is used for drawing those, but when you're edit in place, the boundary is drawing using whatever packet is assigned to the hilite/drawing2 LPP.

I'll see if I can find out what is used for drawing figGroups when not doing EIP.

    Regards,

    Andrew.

It uses the border/boundary layer purpose pair. Having discussed this with R&D, we've got some ideas about how to make this easier to find, so I'll be filing a couple of CCRs to help this in the future.

    Regards,

    Andrew.

Hi Andrew, was there any change to the figGroup LPP and hopefully its ability to be adjusted since this thread was created?

I would like to change the boundary of figGroups to be less obtrusive in the layout view, without turning visibility off, eg changing the definition of figGroup boundary, but not turning it off.

It was already possible to change it when this thread was created -  you need to change the packet definition for the border/boundary layer purpose pair in the Display Resource Editor. The change request (CCR) that I filed at the time was CCR 1530876 which was to support that shift-left mouse over an object in the objects palette should raise the display resource editor for the correct layer-purpose, much as happens when you do shift-click on the layer palette. That hasn't been implemented yet though (so feel free to contact customer support to request a duplicate enhancement request - make sure you mention the CCR number).

    Hi Andrew,

I was trying to find an answer to my question related to changing the "forefront color" of figGroups in EIP when using Cadence Layout (L,XL). When I EIP the figGroup it gets this white shade. I came to this thread because this was the most close topic I could find.

Do you happen to know how to make EIP figGroups forefront color less present or make changes to this at all?

    Kind Regards,

    Daniel

    Daniel,

Doesn't the bottom part of the post thread describe this?  In other words, here?

    Hi Andrew,

Thank you for your reply. I have looked into the bottom posts but could not deduce it was also about the complete fill of a figGroup. I had tried to follow the below threads and tried to find the figGroup "foreground" color border/boundary pair. Since I could not find it I concluded it was only about the boundary (the outer line and not in inside filling) - the boundary (outer line) I could find. Did play around with border/boundary and border/drawing, the first I found like described - the boundary.

Your answer makes me wonder if I have completely overlooked something, I tried to change the border/drawing but did not result in any change when in EIP. Could you please help me out a bit more in finding the layer/purpose pair coupled to the figGroup foreground color in EIP?

    Thanks,

    Daniel

    Daniel,

I suspect you've not changed the fill style of the border/boundary layer purpose. Can you please show screenshots of:

    1. What the EIP of the figGroup looks like in the layout window
    2. The Display Resource Manager with the border/ boundary layer purpose selected (so I can see the current settings)

    Thanks,

    Andrew
