re-reading .cdsinit

frankliu

Without leaving virtuoso, how would I initiate a re-read of .cdsinit (or fresh virtuoso startup condition)

Note that I do not have .cdsinit in my local or home directory it is a system wide .cdsinit from tools/dfII/local/.cdsinit

I tried to load "pathto/.cdsinit"

But it doesn't seem to initialize the same way as closing and opening virtuoso.

There are some config.xml that get looked at before loading the above .cdsinit according to the log file, but other than that

the .cdsinit is at the top of the log during virtuoso startup.

Thanks.

You can re-load the .cdsinit by using load(), but this won't be exactly the same as reinitialising virtuoso. That's because there's no "reset" operation - anything that was defined at the time you try to re-load the .cdsinit will still be defined. Similarly, the steps that are done before reading the .cdsinit (e.g. reading .cdsenv, certain other data from the .cadence directories) is not re-initialized.

Why do you want to do this?

Hello Andrew, I would like to turn on the debugger at the beginning of initialization, because I do not control the site-wide .cdsinit. The site-wide .cdsinit does eventually get to my local .cdsinit but usually after all the site-wide stuff gets done. So... it would be for me to be able to turn on the debugger and have all the definitions reloaded. -f

OK, in that case run "virtuoso -nocdsinit", turn on the debugger, and then load the .cdsinit file you want using load().

    Regards,

    Andrew.
