Library Manager - Managing Designs

I've noticed in my Library Manager that there is an option to Check in/ Check out a cell, library... These options are grey for me, so I did some research...

I came upon a Library Manager User Manual from 2000th and noticed Team Design Manager (TDM) options that would be cool to have around...!

But scrolling through the cdnshelp for an updated Library Manager User Manual (2015) I came upon something called EDIF (read just the Wiki on it...)

My question is how is Team Design Manager handled nowadays? I would like to work on establishing it in my team, so I could use some starter points.

Thanks!

Team Design Manager was already on its End-of-Life journey by 2000, and it was finally removed from the software in the IC610 release in 2006. We took a decision a long time ago to exit the Design Management market, and instead Design Management is provided by third-party add-ons to Virtuoso.

There are currently 5 connections partners who provide DM solutions. In alphabetical order:

    Cliosoft - SOS
    Dassault MatrixOne - DesignSync
    IBM - ClearCase
    IC Manage - IC Manage
    MethodICs EDA - VersIC

apologies to any of these if I have got the company name or product name incorrect. More details can be found under the Alliances link at the top of the page.

So the simple answer to your question is that TDM is no more. You'll need to use a third-party solution.

No idea why you mentioned EDIF (Electronic Design Interchange Format) which has been around forever - it's a not-particularly-fantastic (in my opinion) way of transferring data between tools because it's quite low level and misses out a lot of the important semantics needed to be able to reasonably translate designs between different tools. Anyway, EDIF is nothing to do with DM, so don't know why it came up here.

    Regards,

    Andrew.

Thanks for clearing the EDIF thing to me, I wasn't sure about it...especially when I saw loads of documentation in Cadence Help Files and found many links related to managing designs...it just confused me...

Thanks for a quick reply! I'll check out the DM solutions.
