How to create string with backslash in it?

Hello Experts,

I'm trying to build a string which has "\" backslash in it but I'm not able to achieve this.

Example:

My end goal is to make this string: "myItem->abc->\&Simulation15->myChoice=t"

Where number 15 is passed through a variable.

say myNum = 15

So I'm trying strcat("myItem->abc->\&Simulation" sprintf(nil "%L" myNum)  "->myChoice=t")  but this is erroring out due to backslash character.

I tried using escape character and some other ways but not able to make the string as required.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Navya

    Hi Navya,

precede the backslash with another backslash i.e. "\\" -> "\". If the '&' needs escaping too then you would need three backslashes: "\\\&" -> "\&", but I think you only need two in this case. Also, you can create the whole string from 'sprintf' without needing to use 'strcat' also, something like: sprintf(nil "myItem->abc->\\&Simulation%d->myChoice=t" myNum)

    Best regards,
    Lawrence.
