Is thera a bug in "exists"?

  • No, that's correct. The exists function loops over the list in the second argument until it finds an element for which the expression in the third argument returns non-nil. It then returns the remainder of the list from that point onwards (similar to member()). You can either use this to signify a condition - that there exists at least one member of the list which matches the condition, or you might be usefully be able to do something with the remainder of the list.

    I suspect you really wanted to use setof() rather than exists(). This will return the set of matching list entries - if you do that, then your foreach would print "t" for every element because you'd end up with a set of all the matching elements.
