Gravity options in ICADV node

Hi,

I'm using ICADV12.2-64b and I'm not much fan of the improved gravity options. I'd like to have the gravity controls which was there in IC616. Is there a way to disable the new feature and get the old one?

I liked the one with Edge/Nexus/Vertex/..

    Hi Ramakrishnan,

    I'm not entirely sure why it was simplified so much. Attached is a bit of SKILL code written by one of the team in Northern Europe which gives you a form with access to the old choices - you could put this on a bindkey (it puts it on the F8 bindkey).

    Thanks Andrew. Any idea on how to get the old gravity distance in microns?

    The relative words of Very Large, Large, Medium and Small are not working good. Attaching a picture of what these relative words appear to be in layout. The top most ruler is Very large setting and bottom one is Small setting.

    It takes 0.008 units to snap to the edge in Very Large setting which is not good.

    Ramakrishnan,

    The new gravity snapping algorithm is based on pixel distances, not database level distances. The small through to very large corresponds to 10,20,30,40 pixels. This way the gravity works similarly regardless of the zoom level - in my experience this is more useful than doing it on the distances you've described - the whole point is for your cursor to be near to something and then gravitationally attract, but the cursor movement is in pixels. So this is a fundamental change in behaviour which makes gravity far more useful when you're operating at (say) full chip levels.

    BTW, there is a CCR to request that the gravity controls return to the form - CCR 1538719. This has a number of duplicates currently; contacting customer support to get another duplicate filed would increase the likelihood of this being done sooner rather than later.

    Understood. Pixels are better. Anywhere these pixel settings are buried or they are fixed? As of now I don't see a need to change the pixel values. Just asking

    They're buried at the moment - there are some internal discussions on providing public user control over this though. Maybe you should contact customer support if you need this?
