SKILL function for creating vias automatically in an area?

When creating vias in the layout view you can set the mode to "auto" which will compute the vias for you at the selected point or area.

Is there a SKILL equivalent to this?

In IC617 (I think that's when they were added), there's a bunch of functions such as viaGenerateViasAtPoint, viaGenerateViasInArea, viaGenerateViasFromShape - there are other supporting functions too. These do what you want, I suspect.
