multiple lists for foreach

cadencename
cadencename over 8 years ago

I see code of this form:

foreach( (field prompt)
                   '( lib            cell        view        resultfile          )
                list("Library Name" "Cell Name" "View Name" "Output Results File")

    /*do something here*/

)

I understand that the loop is reading both "field" and "prompt" from the two lists, however, I do not find any documentation for this. This seems very similar to "zip" in python. What is this form called, and where is it documented.

Thanks

    Hi,

    This is just part of the allowable syntax for foreach (and other forms such as lambda) - you can have two variables iterated over two lists, three variables iterated over three lists and so on. In your particular example, in the first iteration field is set to 'lib and prompt is set to "Library Name", for the second iteration field is set to 'cell and prompt is set to "Cell Name"... I don't know 'zip' in Python so I can't comment.

    Hopefully this helps,

    Best regards,

    Lawrence.
