What is the maximum number of cells within a library

Hi all,

I bump into a scenario where my automation may create more than 10k of cells within a library.

Before I continue developing the code, I would like to know is there any limitation of cells with a library?

If yes, what is the number? And is there any way to handle it if more than 10k of cells is required within a single library.

It depends on the file system, but on UNIX systems this is typically around 32,000 sub-directories (if I remember rightly it's more related to the number of hard links you can have to a single directory, and since the ".." in each subdirectory is a hard link to the parent, that's what uses them up - my memory may be incorrect though). Anyway, there's useful information in this Cadence Online Support article (about stream in, but covers the same topics).

So provided you don't go above about 32,000 cells, you should be OK.

    Andrew.
