Virtuoso XL finish wire function

Hello,

I don't know if I'm in right section because my issue regarding on level of hierarchy to detect a terminal.

From skill procedure I create a rod object (wich is an instance) with fig ==> pin ==> term ==> net and with an attached label then on top level of my cellview (at this level there are my pads/plots) I use form Create pin and I write in Terminal Names field the same terminal name as my rod object. I keep "Create label" checked then from "Create pin form" I drop my pin (Layer: metal1 / Purpose: pin) on my pad.

With this level of hierachy between my terminal available on the top level and the other terminal on the level N-1 available in my Rod object I can't use the finish wire Function ( or Automatic Routing).

If I'm doing the same exercise with the same level of hierarchy Finish wire works...

If I flatten my rod object I lose all my connectivity attributes.

For a work environment reason I can't put at the same level of hierarchy my rod object and my pads.

So could you give me a way to solve my problem?

Thank you.

    Julien,

If this needed an urgent response, you should use customer support as this is a community forum - you are depending on folks replying (including those of us who work for Cadence) in their spare time.

It's not entirely clear to me what the structure looks like. If it's an instance with a terminal, there would normally need to be a corresponding device in the schematic - I can't quite picture what you are describing. Perhaps you can use the "Transparent Instance" support in VLS XL (in IC617 - you didn't say which version you're using though)?

    Regards,

    Andrew

    Julien,

In general those of us from Cadence who do respond here do try to respond quickly where we can - in my case I was really busy with work last week so personally couldn't respond. That said, a clearer question with more of the information provided is much more likely to elicit a quick response too as it means one doesn't have to spend so much time trying to guess what is meant by a question.

    Regards,

    Andrew.
