How to check if MPT functions are available in a running environment?

Hi all,

I was wondering if there is a way to determine whether a Virtuoso version is for advanced node technology (ICADVANCE) or not, using SKILL. The purpose is to check if the multi-patterning technology (MPT) SKILL functions are available.

    Hi Chris,

    Try this:

    rexMatchp("ICADV" cadr(parseString(getVersion(t))))

If it returns t that means you are using the ICADV version.

    Regards,

    Dimitra

    Dear Dimitra,

The function getVersion was considered but appears to be an unsafe solution.

Provided that executing a MPT function in a non-advanced version prompts a warning message (e.g. WARNING (TECH-251000): techGetLayerNumColorMasks: This functionality is only available in the advanced node release. ) it seems that there is a build-in functionality which checks the running version.

Is there a way to use that functionality directly and avoid string manipulation?

    Many thanks,

    Chris

    Chris,

Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a public SKILL function that determines this. You can't use isCallable on the functions because they are defined in IC617 as well, but disabled. So I think there needs to be a public equivalent of the current private function. I'll file a request for such a function.

    Regards,

    Andrew.

    Dear Andrew,

Thank you for your answer, I will re-consider the getVersion solution for the time being, which Dimitra also proposed.

    Many thanks,

    Chris
