Via droping

Hai,

I'm a newbie in the skill scripting and I need some help for developing a script for dropping a via where two same nets cross and also need to drop the via based on drc's.

Thanks,

Rakesh K

    Hi Rakesh,

Not sure why you'd need SKILL to do this when the create via command in the layout editor already does this. The "Auto" mode of the Create Via form looks like this (it may depend on whether you're using Virtuoso Layout Suite L or XL as to precisely what the form looks like). This is the F3 options form:

The top red ring shows how to turn on area selection in auto-mode - if that's on you can use left mouse drag in the window to select the region where overlapping shapes are to fill. With it off, you can use middle-mouse drag to select the region. The "Connect Shapes on the Same Net" checkbox controls whether the fill is limited to only those with the net name specified to be the same as each other (so probably more useful in VLS XL, but it works in VLS L too).

You didn't mention the version number of the tools, or even which layout tool you're using, so hopefully the above is useful.

There are also SKILL functions in IC617 and beyond, such as viaGenerateViasInArea which can help if you really need to do this in SKILL.

    Regards,

    Andrew.
