Frequently used functions in toolbar or menubar

Hi,

I keep getting request from my team asking for addition of a function to a menubar or toolbar citing that it was heavily used. And I would get another function request from another person. So I am wondering if there is any possibility to have a toolbar or menubar which can lists some of the frequently used functions dynamically. I say dynamic meaning, this can change from person to person.

So looking for any of the following

1. In built cadence feature to activate this if available.

2. A script which can read the CDSLOG and prepare a toolbar or a menu file. (Obviously have to filter few navigation functions like scroll, zoom, etc...)

I just want to open up the discussion here which can give me some direction. Any help here is appreciated.

Thanks

    Hi Ramakrishnan,

There's nothing built-in to do this (other than the history in the CIW to open the most recently opened designs).

We have done some activities with specific customers to analyse log files to help assess productivity (either lack of usage of a particular productivity aid, or optimisation of mouse clicks on a more frequently used operation). This is something that you should talk to your account team about if it could be useful. However, I don't believe we've done anything to translate that into a toolbar of frequently used commands - I'm not that sure how useful that would be because you tend to rely on  muscle memory for frequently used commands and if they kept moving, that would mean that people would then not keep using them - better for them to use the bindkey, menu or toolbar that they normally come from...

    Regards,

    Andrew.

    Hi Andrew,

It is good to know that Cadence have done something like this. The frequently used commands change from person to person is what I meant. So instead of making customized toolbar for each person, we can build it based on usage. I do believe it will be useful.

    Thanks
