Link Layout PCell to Schematic Symbol

Anchan

Hi,

I have created a MIMCap PCell in the layout editor and also created a symbol in Schematic. I need help in creating a Schematic Symbol for MIMCap that can accept values from the user and the same values are reflected in layout PCell.

Thankyou

Was this PCell created with Cadence PCell Designer, or by writing SKILL code (or using the Layout "PCell" menu)?

    Regards,

    Andrew.

I moved this to the right forum since this is nothing to do with the Cadence PCell Designer product.

You need to create CDF (Component Description Format) for the cell, so that you can capture the parameters, types, prompts etc for each of the pcell parameters. You should make sure that you keep the default value in the CDF the same as the default value in the PCell, and the types are the same (this is the recommendation anyway, as you can get complications otherwise). Then you'll see the parameters prompted on the schematic edit properties and create instance forms.

You can create the CDF using SKILL, or using Tools->CDF->Edit in the CIW (make sure you create "Base" CDF). Once created on the UI, you can also use the CDF Dump button on the form and that will save the equivalent SKILL code needed to create the CDF.

    Regards,

    Andrew.
